Beam

Self-hosted · Open source

Your own game launcher

Games, downloads and friends – on your own server.

This server runs Beam: download the client, connect to this server and play the games from the shared catalog. Downloads come peer-to-peer from everyone who already has the game – on the LAN and over the internet.

Nightly build – Beam updates itself automatically after the installation.

In three steps

How to connect

Set it up once, then Beam starts right with your server.

  1. Install Beam

Download the client. On Windows run the installer, on Linux make the AppImage file executable (chmod +x) and start it.

  2. Add the server

On the first start Beam asks for the server address. Enter this one:

    https://beam.3xd.eu
  3. Sign in

Sign in with “3DNS SSO”. Beam sets up your account automatically the first time.

Registration with user name and password is closed – use the sign-in with “3DNS SSO”.

Features

Everything for your game night

  • Store with trailers

Browse the catalog of your server – with trailers, screenshots and descriptions from the Steam store.

  • P2P downloads

Games come from everyone who already has them: directly on the LAN, as a swarm over the internet. Every block is verified.

  • Steam games from the server

The server downloads and updates Steam games with SteamCMD – you install them with one click in Beam.

  • Play without Steam

Beam sets up the gbe_fork emulator automatically. Games start without a running Steam client, on Linux with Proton.

  • Community & chat

Friends list, online status and chat – see who is online and what is being played.

  • Playtime & overlay

Beam tracks your playtime. The in-game overlay shows friends, chat and system stats without leaving the game.
